A champion for change in West Tennessee
Meet Sarah Freeman.
Educator. Mom. Advocate. Democratic Candidate for Congress.
I'm Sarah Freeman, running for U.S. Congress in Tennessee's District 8. Born in the Blue Ridge Mountains and raised in Virginia and Iowa, I moved to Tennessee with my family twenty years ago. As an educator, I have dedicated my career to furthering knowledge and empowering individuals to become informed and active citizens. My experience as an educator, mother, and advocate at the local and state levels further fuels my commitment to the hardworking people of Tennessee.
My journey has shaped my deep-rooted values of critical thinking, respect, and resilience. I have been actively involved in community issues for many years, from advocating against bullying and gun violence to fighting for voting rights and neighborhood protection.
Serving on the Shelby County Democratic Executive Committee and the Tennessee Democratic Party Executive Committee has honed my skills in leadership and advocacy.
I was also a proud delegate for the State of Tennessee at the Democratic National Convention in 2024.
I am committed to addressing the challenges faced by folks in West Tennessee. I support veterans, advocating for common-sense gun laws, and increasing federal funding for public schools.
I believe in equal rights for all, protecting our environment, and upholding democratic principles.
It would be an honor to serve the people of District 8, bringing courage, integrity, and compassion to Congress.
For Our Children
All children deserve to dream big. Yet many children don’t have access to the high-quality education needed to turn their dreams into reality, and far too many children’s dreams are cut short due to senseless gun violence. Together, we can create a brighter future, where all children in West Tennessee can grow and thrive.
For Our Health
Access to healthcare is a fundamental right, and I am committed to ensuring that every Tennessean receives the medical care they deserve. This includes advocating for comprehensive women's healthcare services - from reproductive rights to preventive care. Too many rural hospitals have closed or cut back on medical services provided, leaving residents without quality, comprehensive care nearby. By expanding access to affordable healthcare and protecting women's rights, we can build a healthier, more equitable future for all.
For Our Neighbors
I am dedicated to preserving Social Security for future generations, ensuring that seniors can retire with dignity and financial stability. Additionally, I will tirelessly support our military personnel and veterans, ensuring they receive the benefits, healthcare, and respect they deserve for their service to our country. By safeguarding these essential programs, we honor our commitments to those who have given so much to our nation.
